Fostering Intergenerational Connections: Lavender Planting Event
Organized by the Balıkesir University 60+ Renewal University Coordination Office as part of the “Disaster Management and Information” course, the “Blooming Connections Between Generations: Lavender Planting Event” brought together different generations in a shared production area in harmony with nature.
In the event, which was held with the contributions of the BAÜN Botanical Garden Herbarium and Application Research Center and the Gerontology Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences, 60+ Renewal University students and Gerontology Department undergraduate students planted lavender together. Through this event, part of the Renewal University course taught by Dr. Ayşe Özdoğan Dölçek, the aim was to strengthen intergenerational interaction, experience the healing effects of contact with nature, and reinforce community awareness through collaborative production.
Balıkesir University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Satıl and 60+ Renewal University Coordinator Dr. Öğr. The event, which was also attended by member Aslı Gözde Alkış and faculty members from the University of Renewal, saw participants planting lavender, sharing knowledge and experiences, and building intergenerational bonds.
The lavender planting event concluded with the taking of commemorative photographs.
