Gerontologists' Day Event Held in Ayvalık Under the Leadership of Renewal University Coordination

As part of Gerontologists' Day on November 21st, a technical field trip organized by the Balıkesir University 60+ Renewal University Coordination Office brought together Renewal University students and gerontologist candidates, strengthening intergenerational learning and experience sharing. The program, which brought the Renewal University's approach to active aging and lifelong learning to the field, took place in the Ayvalık district.
The technical field trip, organized by the Renewal University Coordination Office, began in Adramytteion and continued through important stops along the bay. Throughout the day, participants had the opportunity to observe Ayvalık's natural and cultural values firsthand, as well as visit a soap factory and an olive oil factory. Visits to Cennet Bay and Küçükköy enhanced participants' connection with nature while also fostering social and cultural interaction.
The program, realized with the contributions of Prof. Dr. Hakan Önal, Director of BAÜNSEM and faculty member of Necatibey Education Faculty, allowed Renewal University students and gerontologist candidates to observe the practical applications of gerontology and the multifaceted nature of aging in the field. The event, conducted under the guidance of the Renewal University Coordination Office, offered participants a rich learning experience both academically and socially.
This meaningful technical field trip, organized by the Renewal University Coordination Office, provided participants with a productive day of learning and discovery, in line with the principles of active aging, intergenerational interaction, and on-site learning. It was emphasized that the event contributed to strengthening the Renewal University's community-integrated, field-based, and inclusive education approach.
